Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Jonathan Attard visited the Planning Authority’s Marsa offices and met Executive Chairman Johann Buttigieg, Planning Board Chairman Emanuel Camilleri, directors and staff to review the Authority’s work, priorities and plans, the ministry said.
The Planning Authority says it has invested approximately €3 million in digital transformation over the past five years, including specialised equipment, aerial and ground data tools, recruitment, apprenticeships, training and consultancy, and is integrating artificial intelligence to streamline processes. The Authority reports pending development application cases fell from 6,474 at the beginning of January 2025 to 3,972 by the end of the year, a 39% reduction. The Authority says it will launch a new digital portal and interactive mapping systems in the coming weeks and that government reforms and further investment in technology and human resources will continue.
