Transport Malta has announced a temporary navigation restriction in part of the Gozo Channel for a kayak charity event on Saturday, 3 October 2026.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate’s Local Notice to Mariners No. 183 says the event is scheduled between 9am and 3pm within the area marked on the notice’s chart. Navigation in that area will be restricted during those hours.

Weather fallback set for 17 October

If adverse weather prevents the event from taking place on 3 October, Transport Malta says it will instead be held on Saturday, 17 October, during the same six-hour window.

Mariners are instructed to maintain a sharp lookout, travel at a safe and slow speed and remain well clear of the marked area, kayaks and support vessels. They should also follow instructions issued by Valletta VTS on VHF channels 12 or 16 and by maritime enforcement assets in the area.

The notice lists BA charts 211 and 2537 as affected. It does not announce a cancellation of Gozo Channel ferry services.
